 1. ~20% coolant, 80% water, and add Redline water wetter. 2. Make sure your well sealed between your radiator and air conditioning condensor. 3. Make sure you have all your plastics pieces in top condition under your nose and under your radiator. 4. Make sure you have cowl for fan. 5. You have intercoolers, try to duct them. Detonation will be as common as overheating in your case. 6. Full tank of 100 octane race gas. Good insurance. 7. Run the heater full blast if it's upwards of 100F.If you got money, (listed by importance) a. Go with at least a Border radiator or better. (Koyo, Griffin, etc.) b. Lower radiator pipe. (not overly important) c. Larger oil cooler. (will also block the radiator) --------------- When you start detonating, you'll start increasing your engine temperature. It will be likely in your case, so make sure to turn the boost down. I'd recommend no higher than ~13psi (w/race gas) for your first event. After your first few events, then go ahead and turn up the wick, but no higher than ~15psi, unless you've got a good ear.
BORDER=0> I personally know of 3 300ZX owners that have blown up their engines at the track due to overheating/detonation. Don't take this lightly. One of the guys it happened to is the black car in the lower left corner of my sig.
Keep an eye on your coolant gauge. If it goes just a HAIR above half way, take it easy for a lap. In my experience with the Club Z trackers, that's about where the cooling system starts to boil over. Your cooling systems effiencientcy starts falling at that point. Good luck, and have fun!
